Reed Carlson's research focuses on the Hebrew Bible and Second Temple Judaism. He is particularly interested in how this literature reflects developing conceptions of evil, theodicy, the formation of scripture, and monotheism. Before doctoral work, Reed was a Fulbright Fellow at Georg-August Universität in Göttingen, Germany and he earned an MA from Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Reed is also an ordained minister in the Episcopal Church.
