Kelsey Hanson Woodruff is a PhD candidate in religion and society with a secondary in anthropology. Her dissertation, entitled “Faithful Dissent: The Feminist Counterpublic on the Margins of Evangelicalism,” is a historical and ethnographic study of digital communities of post-evangelical feminists, 2003-2023. It focuses on the way that feminist authors and their readers used digital media, including blogs, social media, and digital forums, to resist conservative evangelicalism. Her dissertation work has been supported by the Louisville Institute, the Social Science Research Council, the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, the Religious Research Association, and the John L. Loeb Fellowship. Her research and teaching interests include American religion, the history of Christianity, women and gender in religion, religion and media, and religion and politics. She holds a BA in religious studies from Stanford University, an MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary, and an MA in religion from Harvard University.
