Margaret Hamm is a doctoral student in the North American Religions subfield. Her research interests lie at the intersections of religion, gender, and law in America, with a focus on reproductive rights, justice, and politics. In particular, her research highlights the history of pro-choice Christians in the United States as well as the competing constructions of religious freedom and reproductive freedom during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. She has also published work in the area of religion and social media. Prior to her time at Harvard, Margaret conducted ethnographic research on the Westboro Baptist Church.
Margaret holds a BA in Political Science and Comparative Religion from Miami University and an MTS from Harvard Divinity School.
