Akhil Thomas is a doctoral student in South Asian Religions. His primary areas of interest involve sites of intra-religious and inter-religious ambiguity and constructions of the category “Religion.” In particular, he is interested in Hindu south India and Indian Christianities with a focus on Advaita vedānta and Syrian Christianity. Related research interests include philosophy of religion, anthropology of religion, theology of religions, comparative theology and philosophy of language. Akhil studied Philosophy (BA, MA) at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and holds an MAR degree with a concentration in Philosophical Theology/ Philosophy of Religion from Yale Divinity School, New Haven.
