Lydia Shahan studies the history of Christianity in medieval Europe, focusing on mystical and devotional texts from the medieval Low Countries. Related research interests include sermons and preaching culture, hagiography, gendered sanctity and Middle Dutch spiritual literature. She is a co-coordinator of the Mystical Theology Network, an international research network of scholars working on mystical texts. Lydia holds a BA in Medieval History from Kenyon College, and a Research MA in Theology and Religion (History of Church and Theology) from the KU Leuven in Belgium.
