My interests lie in reading the literature of the Hebrew Bible in light of its various ancient contexts in the eastern Mediterranean. My current research trajectory focuses on the presence and absence of deities from their sanctuaries and the impact that divine epiphany and disappearance might have - or not have - on cult and liturgy. I am also interested in ancient conceptions of the canonicity of religious literature, and their ramifications for modern scholarly constructions of canon.
